Hausdorff dimension of limsup random fractals

In this paper we find a critical condition for nonempty intersection of a limsup random fractal and an independent fractal percolation set defined on the boundary of a spherically symmetric tree. We then use a codimension argument to derive a formula for the Hausdorff dimension of limsup random fractals.

On Hausdorff Dimension of Random Fractals

We study random recursive constructions with finite “memory” in complete metric spaces and the Hausdorff dimension of the generated random fractals. With each such construction and any positive number β we associate a linear operator V (β) in a finite dimensional space. We prove that under some conditions on the random construction the Hausdorff dimension of the fractal coincides with the value...

Hausdorff Dimension of Random Fractals with Overlaps

The term fractal was first introduced by Mandelbrot to denote sets with highly irregular structures. Mandelbrot and others have then used fractals to model various natural phenomena (for example, [19, 2]). A mathematical development of fractals via the theory of (non-random) self-similar sets and measures was given by Hutchinson [12]. A family of contractive maps {Sj}^ on E m is called an itera...

Dimension spectra of random subfractals of self-similar fractals

The dimension of a point x in Euclidean space (meaning the constructive Hausdorff dimension of the singleton set {x}) is the algorithmic information density of x. Roughly speaking, this is the least real number dim(x) such that r× dim(x) bits suffice to specify x on a general-purpose computer with arbitrarily high precision 2−r. The dimension spectrum of a set X in Euclidean space is the subset...

Percolation Dimension of Fractals

“Percolation dimension” is introduced in this note. It characterizes certain fractals and its definition is based on the Hausdorff dimension. It is shown that percolation dimension and “boundary dimension” are in a sense independent from the Hausdorff dimension and, therefore, provide an additional tool for classification of fractals. A unifying concept of fractal was introduced by Mandelbrot t...
